A hat that sings? How odd...

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? Jokingly, I'd abolish math in all its forms, because I'm absolutely terrible at it and have wished it ill many times before. Seriously, though, I'd like it if tolerance really was, well, tolerant. It seems to have denigrated into a "why, yes I'm tolerant of everyone...if they agree with me, that is!" sort of thing, which really isn't much tolerance at all, in my opinion.
What makes a person respectable? The ability and courage to do the right thing...or at least have the charisma and magnetism to sway people into thinking you're doing so.
What do you look for in a friend? Someone witty, intelligent, subtly sarcastic, and trustworthy. Most of all, someone I can learn from, whether it be intellectually or socially. Every friend I've had has helped me develop a part of my personality, for good or ill, and I wouldn't be who I am without their influence, just as they wouldn't be who they are without mine.
What are your hobbies? Reading, writing short stories and overwrought, juvenile-sounding poetry, fencing, singing...badly, dancing...badly, and going for walks (I like walks...they're peaceful).
Have or would you give time and money to a charity? I have before, and would again, if I did so of my own volition. One thing that aggravates me about some charities is the guilt trip they try sending you on if you don't whip out some cash right away and give it to them. I like researching and making sure my money's really going to help those that need it before I give, and many of the charity representatives I've encountered don't give you the courtesy of doing so.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? I'd like to know I'm truly happy. I've enjoyed my life and what I've done thus far, but I've never truly been happy. I just want to wake up one day and know that everything's finally going right, and there's absolutely nothing looming on the horizon that I need to worry about.
Who is your role model? I don't have one. I have people I admire, people I emulate, and people I'm unfailingly loyal to, but not a role model. Why put someone who probably has just as many failings and flaws as yourself on a pedestal, and spend your life doggedly pursuing the goal of being just like them in any way possible? You're only setting yourself up for disappointment.
What trait most annoys you about other people? Poor spelling and/or grammar. You may be the smartest, nicest, and most wonderful human being on the planet, but if you sound like an idiot in print or when you speak, I really don't want to get to know you.
What do you want to do for a living? I'd love to get a job as a book editor at a big-name publishing house. Firstly, such a career would mean I'd get to sit around, read, and correct mistakes...and get paid for it (a dream career if I've ever heard of one), and secondly, such publishing firms are usually in big cities such as New York or London, and the urban lifestyle has always appealed to me.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast, what would you do? I'd assess the situation first. If it seemed too difficult for me to handle, I'd find a way of signaling for help, then try and restrain or scare off the attacking party, if I could. If not, I'd try to find a way of getting myself and my friend out of harm's way. Once my friend and I were out of danger, I'd try to help my friend, if it was within my capapbility to do so.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? Yes. I've always had a fascination with the Imperius Curse, because the concept of having total control over another both frightens and intrigues me. Though the petty part of me (also the part of me I listen to far more often than I should) would like nothing more than to use it as a tool for revenge, most of all, I'd like to see how far I can push the limits of the curse, if it has any. Is it really utter control, or are there boundaries?
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities? My intellect, my vast reserve of random knowledge and strange facts (hey, you never know when one might come in handy), my ability to appear far more innocent and naive than I really am, my will, and my willingness to try almost anything.
What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities? My indecisiveness, my tendency to be petty and childish, my fear of confrontation, my poor debating skills, and my tendency to be self-deprecating.
Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage: The ability to know when a fight is winnable, and when to back down.
Loyalty: The ability to trust groups or individuals for as long as you need to, as well as the willingness to give them what they want, according solely to the bond you have with them.
Intelligence: The ability to think and process information, and use the ideas and concepts you glean from those processes to assist yourself or your cause.
Ambition: The ability to know what you need or want, and the impetus and desire to get it.

Name: Caitlin
Age: 20
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? Hufflepuff. This is not to say I'm disloyal or afraid of hard work, merely that Hufflepuffs seem to have a dogged loyalty and deep-ingrained desire to please that I doubt I could measure up to.
