If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? Pull society out of the bureaucratic mess it's in so things can get done.
Who is your favorite Hogwarts teacher? Professor McGonagall because you can actually learn things from her. Most other teachers are either incompetent or do not do enough to make sure students do their work.
Who is your favorite character in Harry Potter? Remus Lupin, he seems the most trustworthy one. Most other grown-ups we see in the books are either failures as guidance figures (like the Dursleys) or not shown often enough for us to really form an opinion. Of course, a few people other than Lupin fit the bill, like Dumbledore and McGonagall, but he has more going on behind the scenes. Certainly Dumbledore must have a lot going on that we don't know, but we can't really even guess. With Lupin, we know where most of his conflict comes from, it makes him a fascinating character.
Who is your least favorite character in Harry Potter? As characters they're all great and fun. As people... I would say Sirius Black, his actions in the end were hypocritical to what he said during Harry's fourth year. Ultimately, he failed Harry as a parent figure. In book four he was the voice of reason. In book five, he was rash and put Harry's life in danger. It's practically a one-eighty in personality. Of course, spending twelve years in prison and then being confined again excuses him on some level, but that doesn't change that Harry, a volatile teenager, needed someone level-headed and didn't find that in Sirius.
What makes a person respectable? I would say a person has to have a balance between intelligence and morality. Personally, I put a high value on intelligence, but I couldn't respect a genius who displayed cruelty without scruples. Neither could I respect a bumbling, but good-natured person.
What is your take on religion? What does religion have to do with Harry Potter, eh? It's a personal choice, whatever anyone thinks is right for them is right for them and should be respected. I practice tolerance.
What do you think about house elves? I'm cautious to approach this from a human point of view. They seem to be fairly powerful, there must be a complicated history as to how they ended up in servitude to the wizards. I think Hermione is going about it all wrong, though. She went ahead and read a bunch of books... and never bothered to actually talk to the house elves. And her trick with covering up the hats? She was depriving them of choice, which makes her as bad as, say, the Malfoys in house elf treatment. Her heart's in the right place, but she's going about it the wrong way. I'd love for someone to ask a house elf what is it they actually want out of life, or to explain why they're happy serving and if they could be happy otherwise. Even Dobby, a house elf who wanted freedom, said he was happier working. Is it just a habit of the ages or actually their nature?
What do you look for in a friend? The person has to share my interests, otherwise it would become boring for both of us.
Would you rather have friends and family or money and success? Some would say money and success guarantees friends. I would rather have successful friends and family with money.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I'd become less emotional.
What do you feel is your best quality? Intelligence, mental abilities.
What are your hobbies? Reading, internet, computer games.
Do you want to have children? Undecided.
Have or would you give time and money to a charity? Yes, if I trusted it.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? Rush in to help.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? Becoming a published writer.
Who is your role model? My father, he became successful business without a formal management education and in an unstable economy. He's smart, confident in business, but generous and affectionate with family.
What trait most annoys you about other people? Stupidity, inability to understand something.
What do you want to do for a living? Be an editor. I want to work with literature.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? Yes, if the situation warranted it, I would. For example, I would use an Adava Kedavra to kill someone who was threatening a loved one.
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.) I think perhaps Hufflepuff. Hardworking is a required quality, and I can be a horrible slacker. If the sorting hat is to be believed, then I like Helga Hufflepuff the most out of the four, though. Due to the lines, "I'll take the lot, said Hufflepuff,/ and treat them just the same." Seems to me she was the only one not discriminating in some way.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities? Linguistic abilities, quick thinking, a good listener, willing to help out others, generous.
Where did you find out about us? Cleolinda's LJ.
