Sort me

  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?
I would choose some work at the ministry, but probably not as an Auror. Nothing that contains only paperwork, either, because I really don’t want a boring profession where I have to do the same things every day. I need a certain amount of variety and new challenges from time to time. So this would lead me to a job where I had to work directly at the ministry but also to go out or even support the Auror section every now and then which would be all about the action and adventure thing.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?
This would probably be Transfiguration. It is a very interesting and useful subject and I would be able to show my students impressive demonstrations. No, seriously especially shifting yourself into something different, like Animagi do, sounds great to me. And after all, I’d only teach subject I’m considering important and not completely boring.

Defence against Dark Arts would be also interesting, though.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?
Yes. I mean, hey, I’m of age, so I should’ve learned enough to participate, shouldn’t I. They made it for people at my age, after all. Besides, it would be a great experience and challenge at the same time and it would be cool to have the school backing me.
It would be fun sitting in the common room and gambling about the next task.
And besides, there’s all the fame and the money…

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?
If I had the choice, it would be a wild cat. Probably not one of the big ones, like a lion or a tiger, it would be smaller and more dexterous, kind of elegant and quickly to appear or disappear, something like a panther or an African golden cat for the abilities I’ve mentioned. I simply love cats of all kinds, there is something mysterious about them and they are much more graceful and proud than other animals.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?
Ginny Weasley. She’s gone through the same changes as me, developing from the little, shy girl into a strong person who knows what she wants, tells what she wants and is still able to respect what others are doing – if she understands them. Regarding her family, all the brothers and their financial situation she had to face some difficulties and even though problems have been different ones in my life, I can relate to that.
Also, she’s never been described as a completely arrogant chick, but neither as a real tomboy who doesn’t like “girly things” at all.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
I would see myself, a few years older, but still young, and successful. I’d be surrounded by friends and probably a few people who admire my work. It would be clear that I was gaining a lot of money but was still down to earth in the way of acting and dressing. I think reasons are obvious, but here we go: I don’t want to end up as a pretty empty-handed person but be “someone” at least in a special field. And I hate people who think they’re something better only because they’re wearing expensive things which don’t even look good. Keeping my current attitude and a kind of youth is what I hope to do.

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?
I’d take a lot of it on my bank account and try to leave it there, despite I know that I tend to spend too much money. Well, I would buy some DVDs and CDs I was almost going to buy either way (which means a lot), go to some concerts and to see some musicals, buy some new clothes and the usual stuff. Nothing much different from the things I’m buying now, just a bit more of everything.
But I would most probably take a holiday – I don’t know where, to be honest, it would depend on my current mood. Maybe I’d go to the US and visit some different states, to Egypt (the only country where I’m totally fascinated by its culture) or just take a week at the beach.
Anyways, I would make sure that there is at least half of it left – I don’t like my banking account looking almost empty, it’s a good feeling when you can read a high number there.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?
As far as I remember, I wanted to become an elementary teacher or a writer. A teacher for, well, teaching children because I had this “I know more than the others” attitude and a writer for becoming famous.
By now I want to study communication design and to work in this sector later on to design advertisement, book covers, computer games, whatever – because that’s what I like doing and it’s giving variety. I don’t think that I could spend every day doing the very same thing.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?
Spell: It would stop time and I would use it in one of these too stressful phases when I just don’t know how to manage everything or don’t want to manage it right now, either to get more time or to take a short break. It would be also useful for tests, though… Anyways, it would be called “Pausa” or something else quite simple and easy to say in a stressful situation.

Potion: It would act as a substitute for sleep and it would really work and I would use it to have fun until late in the night (or, also very likely, to spend the day having fun and then working in the night) and be rested the next morning, anyway. I’d call it “Sweet Day”.

Charm: My charm, finally, would be “Rock My Day” (the words to bring it to work would be something more Latin, of course). This one would just play a song which is currently on my mind or I want to listen to, either to myself so nobody else could hear it or to the whole world like a kind of theme music.

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
It would turn into myself, only being blind, without hands or something. And yes, this is my biggest “fear” or the worst thing that could happen to me. That would not only make me somehow dependent on others but also destroy my idea of a kind of extraordinary (in a positive meaning!) lifestyle and the chance to do all the things I want to do. And I wouldn’t be able to draw anymore.
After the Riddikulus spell, the boggart would first turn into a “normal” version of me by recovering itself and than into a character of a cartoon series I used to watch (hands down, I’m still watching it from time to time) who is actually able to, for example, let his arm re-grow. He would say something pretty ironic and I just had to laugh at him.

  • What do you look for in a friend?
I’m usually looking for someone who’s sharing my sense of humour and laughing with me at the most ridiculous things and at things you usually don’t make fun of without just being stupid. However, that’s not the only thing I’m looking for, they should also be able to be serious and to talk about personal thoughts and plans and to give advice if needed. The actual thing I’m looking for might be the ability of shifting back and forth between both aspects and recognizing when it’s the right time for the right behaviour.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?
When they’re completely stupid, don’t even recognize and, especially, have to show it to everyone. I don’t care if you’re talking nonsense at home and thinking you’re the coolest person ever, but please don’t shout it across the whole street, train or whatever when I’m around.
Same goes for being overfriendly to their friends – or random people they’ve hardly ever met. It’s okay to hug someone if you haven’t seen them for a while, but walking hand in hand with people who are just your friends or kissing them every time you meet is stupid. Seriously, what is this about? And no, you don’t have to act super friendly towards everyone, there are people you can hate openly when it isn’t important for your future or just to survive because they’d kill you off right away or something.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
I’m able to see things positive or at least to laugh them away – I’ve got a lot of gallows humor. This ironic way is also great to cheer people up, at least that’s what they told me.

I can bring myself to concentrate on something and to work on it a lot if it is important or important to me. In this case I won’t stop until I get the impression that I’ve managed something (almost) perfectly and can get very aspiring.

Very close to this is the ability of being very passionate about certain things I love or love doing.

Furthermore, I’m quite smart and do get some things others don’t. However, I can still laugh at the most stupid things ever.

I’m quite flexible when it comes to leave the usual place, like, I’ve never been homesick.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
My worst weakness is that I tend to defer too many things, usually those I don’t want to do, like studying for tests, projects or just Christmas presents. I’m always able to manage it very well, though, and once I’ve started, it’s rather easy to continue.

Also, I’m lazy if it comes to things that are not very important or don’t really interest me.

Anyways, I like to be admired and tend to show off with these things.

I’m unpunctual. A lot. If there’s something very important to happen, I can be in time or actually early, but if I don’t care enough, I probably won’t be.

Sometimes I’ve problems to express feelings, like feeling sorry for someone or telling that/why I’m feeling bad. Maybe it’s more a problem of trusting people in a deeper way, though.

  • Define in your own words the following key traits:
    • Courage:If you don’t care what others might or will say, don’t worry (too much) about what might happen or the consequences and if you like the unknown and are ready to experience it – this is courage. It always includes some lack of fear.
    • Loyalty: If you stick to someone no matter what, well, as long as you can support what they are doing – because it also means to be honest towards them if you don’t support what they’re doing. Which doesn’t mean that you’ll leave them alone, then, but that you explain your point of view.
    • Intelligence: Intelligence contains a certain amount of general knowledge, but that’s not the main point about it. Much more important if you want to call someone intelligent is the ability of understanding things by seeing them, reading about them or if someone tells you about them. High intelligence means that you’re able to learn quickly and, first and foremost, can come up with good ideas to solve a problem.
    • Ambition: Ambition is if you’ve set yourself a goal and not only want to but also try to reach it. Giving up isn’t an option because you know why you want something despite also knowing that it won’t be easy to accomplish it. This trait also includes dealing with setbacks if needed and the wish of being noticed, respected or even admired when you’ve finally attained what you wanted.
