Sort Me!

  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?
I would choose to be a professor. I'm always open to new things, and I'd love to pass my knowledge along to the young witches and wizards. Before I become a teacher, however, I would want to get some experience out in the world first. A position in the Ministry of Magic sounds intriguing, even though I'm not sure exactly what I'd do there yet.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?
If I could teach any class at Hogwarts, it would definitely be Charms. There are so many possibilities as to what one can do with a wand, and I'd love to explore them and teach the concepts to others. Making things levitate and more is something I've always wanted to do in real life.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?
No, I wouldn't. I would most likely entertain the thought of entering for a while, but in the end, I would just watch. However, I wouldn't be one of the people half-watching in the back of the stands -- I would be right up in the front cheering on our contestant.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?
I would be a cheetah. Cheetahs are known for their speed. Even in the wizarding world, speed has a great advantage. Cheetahs are also very stealthy, and being able to move quietly has many advantages. After a bit of research, I've discovered that female cheetahs are very independent, but they sometimes form small groups with others. Being independent is a good thing, but complete independence and a refusal to associate with others is not. I like the fact that cheetahs can be independent AND be social.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?
I definitely identify most with Hermione. The first time I read the first book, I was shocked that we had many of the same physical traits. We have the same hair type and the same dental problems! After I continued reading -- and throughout the whole series, we've identified in too many ways to count. I'm the one who is always raising my hand in class -- though I try to be a bit quieter about it sometimes. I'm the one who prepares for things, and right now, I'm probably the only one who wishes that we had 9 periods a day so I could take all the classes that I wanted! People come to me for help all the time. I also love reading! Not only do we have many of the same surface traits -- I feel that I can connect deep down with her character.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
I would see myself happy traveling around the world visiting and experiencing the cultures of a variety of places -- maybe Greece, Italy, England -- and hopefully with someone I love. I've always wanted to travel, and I hope that I get opportunities to do so in the future!

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?
I would probably buy a few things for myself, maybe a macbook, and then I would want to give it to the missions in Kenya through my church because they really need it more than I do.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?
My ideal job as a kid was to be a roller coaster designer. As soon as I rode my first one, I was in love and knew I wanted to design them for a living. That actually has not changed at all! I still love roller coasters, and I'm still fascinated about learning how they work. I'm planning on majoring in mechanical engineering, and working for one of the major roller coaster companies! If that doesn't work out, the idea of graphic design is beginning to grow on me.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?
If I were to invent a potion, I would call it the Elixir of Application. This potion, when drank, would give whoever took it the ability to concentrate and apply themselves to whatever the task at hand was for a certain amount of time -- depending on the amount of potion taken. This would NOT make anyone more intelligent than they are in and of itself. This would simply help people block out distractions and focus. I always have problems focusing on my work, especially if it doesn't interest me, so the Elixir of Application would help.

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
If I were to face a boggart, it would turn into a snake. I'm absolutely terrified of them! When I throw the counter-spell, it would turn into Jack Sparrow -- which would be quite hilarious.

  • What do you look for in a friend?
I want a friend to be loyal. I really count on my friends to be there for me. I also look for a good sense of humor in friends -- BUT they must have the capability to be serious when the circumstances call for it. Other than that, I'm not too selective -- everyone deserves a chance!

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?
Giving up early in the game. For instance, when people look at something and say, "This looks too hard, I'm not doing it." bothers me to no end. I wish people would give things their best try and then give up if they really can't do it. Even then, people should look into how they could improve next time.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
    1. The ability to listen. I might not have a lot to say all of the time, but I can always be there to listen.
    2. The ability to keep a secret. This kind of ties into the listening. I hear a lot when I listen, and people can always trust me not to tell anyone.
    3. Determination. I always try to follow through and make sure that I understand all that I can to my full capability when it comes to schoolwork and more. If at first I don't understand something, I'll pursue it until I do -- even if it means taking extra time.
    4. I am very perceptive. I have the ability to notice small details and commit them to memory.
    5. I tend to be a perfectionist. This is a good thing most of the time because when I do things, I want to do them right.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
    1. I tend to be a perfectionist. The times that this isn't a good thing, it's a bad quality. It takes me forever to do my work because I want it done right!
    2. Procrastination. I'm filling out this application when I should be doing something else...
    3. Writing about myself. I have massive writer's block when it comes to it. I have a lot of trouble filling out applications for programs, especially when I have to describe what I can contribute to the program.
    4. Over-analyzing. I tend to over-analyze even the smallest of decisions and make a big deal out of nothing.
    5. Sometimes I feel that I am too passive. Being overly aggressive is not a good thing, but sometimes I am afraid to vocalize what I really feel.

  • Define in your own words the following key traits:

    • Courage: Being capable of defying what others think and your inner fears to stand up for what is really right. It takes a large amount of courage to tell the truth (or admit you're wrong), so if you have courage, you will probably have many other favorable traits because of it.
    • Loyalty: Staying true to a cause or person no matter what happens to them, how they change, or what they think of you. Loyalty is complete devotion.
    • Intelligence: Having knowledge AND actively applying it to everyday life and tough situations for the good of others.
    • Ambition: Setting goals and letting nothing stand in the way. Ambition starts with believing that you can do something and then taking action.
