Slightly Ineberated

  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?

I would love to either play, coach, or be the manager of a Quidditch team. I have a strong passion for team sports, and what draws me in is the energy players create when they step into the pitch, onto the field, or onto the court.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?

Flying. There's something truly amazing about learning to fly on a broom. Seeing the look on (well, some of) my students' faces as, for the first time, their feet leave the ground would make me infinitely happy.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?

Yes, I would enter my name. The Tournament is an opportunity to test my knowledge, my courage, my ambition, and my strength. A great learning experience, the Tournament would expand my horizons as a student, as a teacher, as a witch, and as a person. Plus it's a great way to represent Hogwarts and show my loyalty and pride.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?

A snake. I have a knack for slithering out of trouble. My personality, if I am pushed too far, has quite a sharp bite, but otherwise, you don't bother me, I won't bother you. I do best on my own, and I never back down without a fight.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?

Oliver Wood. Wood not only has the passion for quidditch, he has a quality of leadership that is rarely seen. Even though his fanaticism is seen as crazy, it's a dedication that is a real testament to his abilities as a player, leader, and coach.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?

My grandfather died before I matured, and I would like to see him and talk to him about everything he's seen in life. The scene would be him, sitting in a pub, waiting for me to grab the stool next to his and talk over a pint or two.

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?

By buying pieces of history. I plan (someday) to have a room of my house filled with historical artifacts and replicas of famous objects throughout the ages. I love knowing the little details behind the significance of something. I love having the ability to explain the circumstances and the originality behind an object you own.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?

I always wanted to be a writer. I enjoyed reading when I was little, and I'm happy that I still kept that interest. I wrote my first short story when I was in elementary school, and ever since then I've put my thoughts down on paper. I would still like to be a writer, but I also have a way with words straight from my mouth. When I was twelve, I participated in a Mock Trial, and I found my calling as a lawyer. I can talk my way out of anything and I have a respect and admiration for the legal system. I also really, really enjoy reading and writing satirical work.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?

This may seem a little selfish, but my spell would, for a brief time, make the victim believe everything the caster says is true. I pride myself on my ability to decieve and manipulate, and anything to help me out is gravy. Of course, I'd use it to avoid punishment, to gain an advantage, and just for fun. The spell would be called 'Scientera," taking its name from the latin meaning, "intent or knowledge of wrongdoing."

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?

Like Harry, my boggart would be a Dementor. I fear being devoid of all happiness; I'm generally a pretty laid back, comftorable person. I can't imagine a life without some kind of rediculousness. So, when I cast riddikulus, I could see the Dementor tangled in Christmas lights holding a big, plastic, tacky, light-up Santa Claus. It doesn't get any funnier than that.

  • What do you look for in a friend?

Someone who I can trust to always be at my side no matter what the situation or circumstance. Someone who I always want to be with, and someone who I miss when we're apart. For me, friendship is nothing to be taken lightly. I need to have complete faith and trust in you in order for me to really open up.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?

I have this problem with people who think they're always right. Because 99.9% of the time, they're wrong. I have no problem admitting I'm wrong, but when other people refuse to do so, that really makes me angry. I think the biggest issue I have with this is the blatant ignorance. To me, a happy life is the pursuit of knowledge, not that "ignorance is bliss" idealism.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

    1. I have an ability to cheer anyone up. I usually find some way to get someone in a rut to at least giggle at my antics. I don't actually know how I do it, but I have always believed that laughter is the best medicine.
    2. I'd also like to think I'm pretty responsible. I remember special dates, appointments, assignments, and anything else that's essential to living in today's fast-paced consumer-driven world. I'm pretty good with money, and I make sure that, when I'm living life to the fullest, I don't lose control. I've seen people spread themselves too thin and go down in flames.
    3. Another of my best qualities is the ability to think quickly. There have been several points in my life where I've had to basically talk my way out of trouble. I definitely think this is one of my best traits, and without it, I probably wouldn't be as creative and silly as I am today (also as paranoid as I am today.)
    4. I think part of my ability to think quickly can be attributed to my memory. There may be some points where I can't remember what I had for dinner two nights ago, but I can always tell you how I met each one of my friends. Memory plays a crucial role, especially when you're attempting to manipulate or get around something. If you change your story, there's a lesser chance of anyone believing you, and this is where the memory needs to be sharp. If you trip over your words and whoever it is catches you, you're in serious trouble.
    5. I'm a well-rounded person. I've got pretty good book smarts, but I've also made sure that I can get by in the real world. I have very good judgement on what I can and cannot do, and also what needs to be done and what can wait. I'm extremely disciplined and dedicated when it comes to something I desire, and I will do anything I need to in order to reach my goals.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

    1. I don't take criticism well. If someone tells me I'm not doing something right, or that what I believe is wrong, I will argue with them until they prove to me that their side is true. This often leads to issues with people who think they know what they're talking about, especially since I don't generally believe things that are false.
    2. I have anger management problems. If someone frustrates me in any way, I will often let that one incident build and build until it snaps. This presents a problem, especially when the people who frustrate me have a lot more power than I do.
    3. I have severe apathy when it comes to others. I often find myself with two choices; either help the person in trouble, or don't care. I usually choose the latter if it's someone I'm aquainted with. If it is one of my closer friends, then I will help. In the past few years I've noticed that things generally go smoother when I don't get involved, so at this point, I generally avoid problems, whether it's silly drama or more serious trouble.
    4. While I can make people laugh and cheer them up, I don't comfort people well. Whenever I walk into a room and someone is getting emotional, I assess the situation, and if I can help in my own way, I will. If I feel that I can't address the problem properly, I will leave and allow someone else to take control.
    5. If I don't like you, you'll know. This is a setback, especially when whomever I dislike is still within my social circle. I have a sharp tongue that preys on stupid comments, and I can rarely hold it back. Whenever I start really hating someone, I find myself subconsiously analyzing every word they say, waiting for a chance to point out a flaw. This serves to purposes; as a cathartic action for me, and as a way of not-so-subtly telling the person I don't really like them.

  • Define in your own words the following key traits:

    • Courage: The ability to stand up to what you fear and defeat it.
    • Loyalty: Having pride in what you know and love.
    • Intelligence: To be both book smart and street smart, and knowing when to use a healthy combination of the two to solve a problem
    • Ambition: the steadfast dedication to achieve set goals, whether they be for power, knowledge, or recognition.

  • Name: Katie
  • Age: 18
  • Where did you find out about us?
I have a few friends who are active members and have previously been members, and they all loved the community.
  • Do you plan on being active in the communities once you are sorted?
    Of course.
