Sort Away

  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?

Now this is an interesting question. I think I would go with Auror and yes when Crouch permitted the curses I would have used them. Now why you ask? I love a good chase. I love hunting and the ultimate hunt is to hunt a person. I really wouldn’t care why they sent me after the person. This isn’t to say that I wouldn’t ask questions, oh I would, but to get paid to basically be a wizard bounty hunter? I think I just creamed my jeans kiddies. But I digress, as long as I thought they belonged in Azkaban or if I just didn’t like them, I’d catch ‘em. Gotta catch ‘em all. Pickachu! Er...wrong fandom. Though, for a few rare items or several thousand galleons I could be swayed to look another way. Besides, if I ever found myself in a situation where I may have avoid the Aurors, it’s best to know how they work.

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?

Care of magical creatures. C’mere kiddies and pet the nice dragon. Whoops lost another hufflepuff. I think that would be a pretty sweet gig. I’d be outside all day messing with the beasties and my lesson plan could potentially tear a student limb from limb. Good times. I also enjoy mythical creatures. Well this is speaking from outside the potterverse but my interest in them is more symbolic than anything. Knowing what they represent in literature, folklore and legends tickles me in all the right places.

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?

Absolutely. That cup’s as good as mine by hook or by crook. The TriWizard tournament is such an awesome test of self. I’d want to be tested to my very limits and see how I’d fair and then there’s the whole winning aspect. Whatever it takes. I’d do it. In the Goblet of Fire, when they were underwater and Cedric swam up to Harry the first thing I thought was: “pop his bubble!”. Also who doesn’t want to be the center of attention? I’d want my name to be amongst the champions.

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?

Peregrine falcon. They’re beautiful, they can fly and they’re fast. I love flying. The first time I flew a plane I was just seven years old. They’re also not so exotic that I would be easily spotted as an animagus. Which would come in handy if I found myself in a situation where I didn’t want to be found. If I were, I could easily get away and if I had to I could rip my pursuers eyes out with my talons. Always a good thing ya know.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?

Ron. I’ve said this on another app and I’ll say it again. I’m always a bridesmaid and never a bride. The hilarious part is I’d actually be more a groom. Anyway, I can relate to how he is with his friends. In particular, in the Goblet of Fire when he thought Harry had put his name in the cup. I’m quick to kick a friend to the wayside if I feel they treated me wrong and I’m just as quick to apologize if I was wrong. I’m only up to GoF in my reading so if there’s more here that I’m missing that’s why.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?

I’d see myself with my diploma already. I’m a super senior because I got lost half way through college. Stupid...crisis...of....self....

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?

It would be gone after my week in Amsterdam. Drugs, sex and sushi eaten off the naked bodies of beautiful women. All my hedonistic desires would be fulfilled so that when the money was gone it just wouldn’t matter. Actually, I would take a trip to Amsterdam but I wouldn’t blow it all that quickly. More like I’d take a chunk to play with and make the rest make more money for me. Then I’d just live off that and do whatever and really whoever I wanted. It would also be nice to have a means to have a room of my own so to speak in which to write.

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?

It was to be a piolet of an Osprey. My mom works for boeing and I fell in love with the Osprey’s at a very young age. I was going to enter the Marine Corps to fly them. Like all my dreams, it turns out they crash, a lot. I was destined to do ROTC until I slipped a disc in my back the afternoon before prom and was henceforth disqualified from all branches of the military. Then there was the whole lets be an English teacher gig but the more I learned about the education system the less I wanted to do it. Now my ideal job is anything that pays 11+ bucks an hour with room to get up the ladder with medical. However, if I could ever make money off my writing that would be wonderful but not realistic.

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?

Potion. It would be called......Juxtaposition in a vial. It would allow you to step outside of yourself over a period of time so that you could observe yourself as an outside in order to better some behavior or improve upon yourself. One would use it to perfect something about themself. Wether it be acting, dancing, a bat swing, singing or personality traits. It would keep a person from having delusions about their self and would hopefully dramatically shorten the line of idiots who try out for American Idol.

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?

It would turn into a debt collector who was there to collect on an insane amount of debt with a very high interest rate. After the counter spell he would be a friend of mine from school in a wedding dressing singing like a virgin. My friend George really did this for our senior variety show. Never forgot it.

  • What do you look for in a friend?
Trust, loyalty, and respect. If your friends respect you there’s no drama, mothering, lying and all that other crap. Also kindness but not the fake kind. The hard kind that can lead to confrontation. Like, no you can’t sing you’re tone deaf or no you don’t look good in that even though you really like it you know the kind of kindness that keeps a person from making an ass of them self when they really don’t want to. Now when you’re drunk it’s a whole other story but you get what I mean.

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?

I have a hard time with people who don’t have a good command of the language. I don’t mind misspelling things or not even having perfect grammar. I know I don’t. However, if you come at me with this slop: “Ya’ll know what I’m talkin’ ‘bout? You know what I’m sayin’? You know what I’m saying? Like like like like yes like and this like and that like and like totally like dude dude dude that’s wicked you know like what I’m saying?” or “HI I’M TOO LAZY TO USE THE SHIFT KEY” or “Where r da bitchz at n da house and da studz”.

Nope, not cool. Avada Kedavra on them all.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

I’m a great bullshitter. I can even throw my therapist a curve ball. I’ve been known to entertain with my writing. I’m a great advice giver. I rarely lie and I’m not bullshitting here. However, I’m also not tactful so this quality is rarely held in high regard by others. Lastly, I can be pretty damn funny. There’s a u-tube vid out there some where of me and a light saber dildo chasing people in a dorm room.....sober.

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

Anxiety. I’m plagued by it. That’s closely followed by depression. The mix of these two completes the third weakness which is negative thinking. The kind that leaves a person impotent in their life. Indecisiveness. Once I know what I want I get it. It’s the knowing part that gets me. Lastly, empathy. I honestly just wish I didn’t give a damn. It’s hard to feel some emotions so intensely so I tend to keep my inner circle small as a result.

  • Define in your own words the following key traits:

    • Courage: Standing up for your perception of right despite fear.
    • Loyalty: The ability to stand by someone worthy of your act of devotion.
    • Intelligence: The ability to think critically wether it’s about an essay, a composition, a painting or a math problem in a way that’s original.
    • Ambition: The drive to succeed in whatever is deemed worthy to succeed in.

  • Name: Shelley
  • Age: 23
