I have rewrote this thing a thousand times...

  • What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?

I'd like to be a magitist! It's like a scientist, but for magic. Who else would come up with new and crazy ways to apply old spells in new and fancy ways? I assume it be a ministry job, possible in the Department of Mysteries. I'd get to do cool things like figuring out why they keep brains with tentacles that electrocute folk (guard brains?) and then I could find ways to use them to wizardkinds advantage, like a reliable source of electricity for possible uses in spell/technology transformations (such as finding ways to run magical equivalents of computers).

  • If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?

Ugh, I hate teaching, but if you're going to force me to do it, I'd like to teach Charms because it seems one of the most interactive classes with the students, without having to worry about the threat of death by dangerous creatures or cursed position. I wouldn't mind getting to talk with the students and see if they had any cooky ideas I could put to use. Especially if I got to have students as crazy and brilliant as the Weasley twins! I'm sure the three of us could have made huge advancements in magical devices and applications!

  • This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?

Hell yes! Whenever I get the chance to crush my fellow students with my superior intellect, mental agility and physical prowess I'll take it! Um... yeah, except for the physical prowess bit! I would definitely enter the Triwizard tournament, but mostly just for shits and giggles. I love competitions; being able to compete against people as/more smart/quick/strong/whatever than me is exhilarating! And I would love to be in Harry's position--the youngest in the competition and far behind in learning--because if I won, or even just survived the tournament, it would be a huge accomplishment and I could definitely claim props as Best in my class!

  • If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?

A New World Monkey so I can laze about in trees and eat mites off of other monkeys backs. That would be my idea of heaven. I'm so busy during to school year (7 hours of sleep per week at most :( ) that when I go home over breaks I am essentially a monkey: I sleep hanging off the couch and watch TV while picking through a bowl of pistachios and sometimes I scratch my head and say "Ook?" I unfortunately do not enjoy bananas as much as I should, but maybe that would change when I had monkey taste buds.

  • What HP character do you identify with most and why?

I'm often told I act very Luna-ish. Apparently I am incredibly random and spacey most of the time, which I just don't see. Every tangent I go off on has a complimenting secant it began with. (shitty math joke, I am so sorry. bad nakki, bad!)

I personally see myself a lot like a young Sirius. A lot of what I do comes very easily to me so I tend to be rather lazy when it comes to school work--though now that I'm doing work in my major that translates to me putting off my school work so I can play with really cool things like research on the human centrifuge and the like--I'm very carefree and I tend not to worry about much. But I can be very hardworking when it comes to something I'm particularly interested in, like building planes (similar to Sirius and the marauders map). And I think I'm cool. I don't know if anyone else thinks that, but that's how I feel about myself and I assume everyone else does too.

  • What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?

Me floating in the ISS wearing a NASA flight suit because that would mean this whole putting myself through school with two jobs in labs on campus and not eating nearly enough and constantly being sick and never getting more than an hour or two of sleep in a row and always panicking about grades and studying for tests would have actually been worth it and that I'm not just torturing myself with this hellish undergraduate education for no reason. (And do not think I am kidding. This place is hell. Ask anyone here.)

  • If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?

I'd use it to fund the prototyping of my space ship design and mission plans while I shopped around for bids from bigger companies. (I assume, since the question asks in dollars rather than in galleons that this question can be a none wizarding answer. For a more wizarding answer, I would use the million galleons to buy supplies I need to build a space ship powered by magic-- more on this in the answer after next.)

  • What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?

As my last two answers have sorta hinted at: Astronaut. Wanted to be one since I can remember and still want to be one. NASA Astronaut selection opens in 3 more months!! I should really be working on that application right now...

  • If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?

So, Mr. Weasely could power his flying car on magic or something, 'cause he didn't use petrol so that leads me to believe that I could probably power a ship or plane on a similar spell, so I wouldn't need to invent that spell. Instead I'd invent a atmospheric charm that created a bubble of earths atmosphere (standard temp, pressure, and gas ratio) around the caster. I would be a charm call it "aerspiritus" (butchered dog latin for "air of life") and it would require a simple wand movement that activates a pre-made potion (the brewing of which would require the shed pinion feathers of an albatross and moss that only grows on the south side of trees [among other things] and the cleaned bladder of a sheep to store it in.) The wand movement needs to be easy and possible to perform while on broom-back or experiencing minor hypoxia. I would use this spell to go to the moon and grow moon food, which I would then harvest and bring back to the wizarding world and make huge amounts of money selling it to wizards as a novelty food item.

  • If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?

Anything that symbolized me not accomplishing my goal of being an astronaut, so that could be me wearing the uniform for In'N'Out, or married with a bunch of kids, or failing out of college, or finding out I wasn't accepted to grad school, or even a really mean professor yelling at me about my bad data analysis: really anything that throws my plans off track. That means my Riddikulus spell would vary for each, but if it was the professor they'd be attacked by the erasers until they choked on the dust, and if I was wearing a retail or fast food uniform I'd be me own fairy godmother and transform me boggarts clothes it into a space suit.

  • What do you look for in a friend?

I like them somewhat old, graying, with patchy hair and stuffing leaking out of their butts. Oh wait, that's just my teddy bear.

Friends in general, I like people like me: decently happy, generally excited about what they're doing, good at hanging out and doing nothing, and available emotionally and physically. That being said, I'm a pretty shoddy friend. If people come to me with their problems I have no problem dropping what I'm doing to help them, or if people drag me to a party I'll have no trouble having fun, but if I'm left to my own devices I tend to stay by myself, I love being around people, but I don't try very hard to keep people around me. And this causes issues of course because a lot of my friends are the same way, so we can live side by side in our dorms rooms and not see each other for days at a time because we just don't feel like tracking each other down :)

  • What trait most annoys you about other people?

Stupidity and lack of Common Sense. And I'm not talking about people who can't do differential calculus, but the people who walk by a TV and ask what's on even though watching for half a second will tell you just as quick [granted this one only becomes really annoying when a lot of people do it, but when you live with 40 people it happens real often], or people who have to ask the librarian where the autobiographies are kept when looking up the dewey decimal system is just as easy. Or someone who throws an empty coke bottle at a bunch of police in riot gear, yeah it might not hurt them but you can be sure their gonna hurt you now! I just really hate it when people can't be bothered to use their brains for the simple stuff.

Oh and people who talk in the theater. I hate those people. A lot. Yeah that's two traits, but I really hate those people.

  • What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

Confident - I admit that this one often strays into the "egotistical" department, but I really can't help myself. I love being me! Love love love! And that sorta spreads out into everything I do. I have a ridiculous amount of self confidence (I can get hired anywhere based on a job interview!) and if I know something I have no problem telling folk and defending my point of view

Competitive - I like to compete, but I tend not to care if I win, well in physical competitions. I honestly just love the thrill of competing and that thrill's always there, whether you win or lose. Now in mental competitions, I like to win because, ya know, I'm brilliant and should win.

Stubborn - Like a mule. I can get my mind wrapped around one concept or idea and I have to be beaten to a pulp (mentally) and bombarded with contrary evidence before I will let go of my original stance. Of course, once proven wrong I flip flop and then fight for the new idea just as strongly. Maybe I just like fighting...

Loyal - I never second guess myself. If I become friends with someone or join a particular group or pick a side of an argument, I will not change my mind without serious application of a crowbar by an opposing party. I tend to think of myself as one of the dog warriors of native tribes: when I choose my side, I tie myself to stake in the ground and will fight to the death rather than move.

Curious - I like to know how things work and move and I like to know why people do what they do. I love seeing how the adage "Necessity is the mother of invention" applies to new technologies and old ones. And I really like to see what's behind closed doors. If a door is closed and I can't get it open it drives me crazy! I must know!!

  • What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

I'm lazy. I have to have a goal in mind to get anything done and it can be as simple as "get out of bed" or "eat the last of the cheerios before they turn into cardboard" or "find a life" today.

I'm very easily distracted, the object doesn't even have to be shiny for it to capture my attention for ridiculously long amounts of time. You may think I'm joking, but I'm not. I was once mesmerized by gray wallpaper for hours! Granted, i also hadn't slept for 2 days at that point and I was having a laughing fit... anyways, you get the point.

This may be surprising, but I can often be so confident that I verge on arrogant. It's just because I love being myself so much and no one else is as awesome as I am.

I'm addicted to procrastination it could be the easiest thing to do, but I have to put it off to the last possible moment. My mind will find anything possible to latch on to to avoid doing what needs to be done until it has to be done. I'm always able to get everything done by the deadline though, problem is when I have no deadline I may never get something done.

This is hard. Umm.... I guess I'm rather careless. I tend to forget small things, like turning off the stove when I finish cooking and leaving my door unlocked when I leave for trips. I have to put post-it notes everywhere to remind myself to do stuff.

  • Define in your own words the following key traits:

    • Courage: Doing what needs to be done and doing it, regardless of opposition or support.
    • Loyalty: Unwavering support (physical and mental) to an ideal, person or organization and having the courage to follow through with that support.
    • Intelligence: Knowing what you still need to learn. (ooo, now I'm getting all zen with these answers)
    • Ambition: Applying what you know to get you what you want.

  • Name: Nakki
  • Age: 19
  • Where did you find out about us? No bloody clue, I've had this application saved for a while, probably since the beginning of this term, and just haven't had the time to fill it out properly.
