- What sort of profession in the wizarding world would you choose and why?
Well in RL I'm trying to become an academic and get to spend all of my time at University as this is where I feel most comfortable becuase of the way people at university, studying or teaching, are usually so open and willing to discuss things even at times deep philosophical things where neither of you are entirely sure you're "getting it". I also love being around so much information and really wish I could read/remember it more quickly. So something like that with teaching and researching. Alternatively I'd be ok with working in a more administrative situation, organising things and keeping things ticking along, just as long as there is enough there to keep my brain going because I cannot stand to be bored and intellectually undernourished.
- If you could teach one class at Hogwarts, what would it be and why?
Um my first thought is Charms because I think these are the most generally useful (I do have a tendancy towards being a pragmatist at times so I like things to have an everyday use- don't ask me how I square this with my film studies because I haven't quite come up with a reason beyond "studying the creative products of a culture can help you understand the culture that created it, and that's always something useful as it can help you spot problems that may need addressed" or something along those lines) but my second is Muggle Studies because I think the problem of trying to get kids to understand a society and culture completely unfamiliar to them would be a fun, but possibly difficult, challenge. Also my background in literature and film/tv studies would be of use here so I could use skills I've already acquired.
- This year, The TriWizard Tournament is being held once again and you're of age. Do you put your name in the Goblet? Why or why not?
No. I'm not sporty and I don't like risk. In fact, based on the last one, I'd probably be there questioning the need for one given how dangerous it seems.
- If you could choose your animagus form, what would it be and why?
(I'm very sorry I missed this one the last time- I probably left it because I didn't have an answer and planned to come back to it. So sorry) OK. I think I'd be a cat. I've always had cats in my life and I already meow back at my cat when she's harassing me so I'm part way there already (*smile*). The type of cat I'm thinking of is a nice, fairly slender tabby who's fairly placid and not at all vicious but who you know is watching you and evaluating you all the time. Also I like hugs and people hug cats.
- What HP character do you identify with most and why?
Hermione- she's resourceful and smart and probably underappreciated. Also she only seems to have a few close friends rather than a gaggle of people around her at all times- which is more how I approach friends. I'd rather have a couple of really good friends than lots of alright friends.
- What would you see if you looked into the Mirror of Erised?
Me thin and happy and probably with children and something to show my career was established and going well. At least that's what I want in the future so it would make sense that this would be what I saw. Although I don't care that much about having a partner, there'd probably be one of them too in the picture as somedays I think it would be nice.
- If you won a million dollars, how would you spend it?
A million dollars isn't alot. I think I'd probably buy myself some new clothes and new books and maybe a car and a downpayment on a flat and then invest the rest for when I really need it. Knowing me I'd randomly buy people (my parents, my siblings and my closest friends)presents too. I might see if my sister would like help with her debt- maybe not to give it to her but a loan, why not?
- What was your ideal job as a kid? Has that changed? What is your ideal job now?
When I was little I wanted to be a teacher and a writer. Now I want to be a lecturer but the writer side has fallen away due to disuse. I kind of regret that but I seem, inspirationless. Every now and then I get a burst of inspiration and write some drabbles. Sometimes I think I could try and restart the writing thing by trying my hand at fanfic, but my fanfic has never been very good. I can't get the voices right.
- If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it, and what would you call it?
To be honest I'd like a spell that would allow me to read, remember and understand books very bloody quickly because I never get as much reading done as I like and I get annoyed when I forget little bits and pieces.
- If you were to face a boggart, what would it turn into? And what does it turn into when you throw the counter-spell, Riddikulus?
Oh that's a hard one. My biggest fear would probably be something like being completely alone and unloved so imagining having people around would help but would it make me laugh? I don't know. Maybe they can all be wearing brightly covered silly clothes and making faces? I don't know, honestly.
- What do you look for in a friend?
Things to talk about. Intelligence. Not too much drama. Sincerity. Loyalty. Ok, this is a bit breif so I'll expand it: When I meet people for the first time I tend to try and work out if they are interested in any of the things that I am (so fandom, courses, music, similar outlooks on life, etc) and also see how they react to those topics in order to decide whether I want to spend more than acquaintence type time with them (so if they look at me like I'm mental for liking to talk about a tv show to death and come up with theories, or if they call me a geek and sneer at it then I'll be nice to them but I'll probably never call them "friend"). Once I know that we've got things in common, and they seem sincere/trustworthy, then I'll spend more time with them, let them into confidences etc but if they're too over the top and react with OMGs all the time they'll annoy me. I mean a genuine problem I'll support them and I'll tentatively offer advice but if every other day they're bugging me with some inane thing I'll quietly back away and hide. Generally I don't make friends (true friends) very often but when I do I stay friends with them for a long time. I don't tend to fall out with people.
- What trait most annoys you about other people?
Acting like they know what they're on about when they are clueless or stupid. Alternatively people I know to be intelligent acting like idiots or saying stupid things. I just can not be bothered with pretension and talking nonsense incesantly and that doubley goes for people I think are clever enough to not need to.
- What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
Procrastination (does that count).Intelligent- I'm always wanting to know more, to understand more and I try to have well reasoned opinions and to be aware of the underlying meanings of things, not sure how much I manage the last two. Easy going/friendly/patient/considerate- I am very much liked by older people and children because I don't get frustrated easily and I will try to be helpful/polite as far as I can. A tendency towards feeling lonely, mainly as a result of living far away from my friends and my University, but also with being ok with that and with being alone- it could be said that I'm self-sufficient. Loyal, once we are friends I will stay your friend and I will defend/listen/consol as needed. Hell if we're established friends, been friends for years, and our tastes have wandered away from each other I will try and watch the shows you like and read the books you like so we can still have silly conversations about who should be with who and what the pros/cons of the show/book are and what the underlying message of the show is. And another one in case "procrastination" doesn't count-Creative- I'm always making icons, headers, cards, I write when I have inspiration, I bake, cook, etc and tend to have several projects under way at any one time- even if those are just trying to keep up with icontests.
- What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
I can be lazy and spend far too much time doing pointless things. I remember things that people have done that have hurt me for a very long time although I don't try and get revenge for them, I just remember. I'm mistrustful and suspicious, probably as a result of remembering my hurts. I have a tendancy to keep some things (like paper and clothes and things) very untidy while other things (books, DVDs etc) are alphebetised and sorted by rating or genre and I get quite annoyed when they are out of order. At times I am very afraid and wracked with uncertainty and doubt- somedays I give in and hide and other days I just get on with things- but the uncertainty remains.

OK, hopefully that's enough information now although I think I may have contradicted myself in places. :)
