sort me, if you'd be so kind.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? I wouldn't. It's not to say that world doesn't have it's flaws, but that's part of it's appeal. I respect the world for not only what it is. It's dark and light. It's cruel and kind. It's boisterous and subtle. It's unrelenting and merciful. You can wish and hope till you're blue in the face for an idealistic and peaceful world, but it can't exist. The light needs the dark as much as the dark needs the light. I respect the world for what it is and find it's diversity overwhelmingly beautiful.

What makes a person respectable? Honest people are respectable. Truly honest people. There are honest people and then there are situationally honest people. Situationally honest people masquerade as honest people, but they're not the same. A situationally honest person will compliment you on your delicious shrimp alfredo even if it tastes like glue or tell you you look great in a pair of jeans that is clearly cutting off your circulation. Some people might say that's polite, I just think it's fake.

What do you look for in a friend? I look for loyal and (again) honest friends. I want to know that my friends will be straight-forward with me in any situation and that they'll always be looking out for me when the chips are down. I'm very choosy when it comes to friends. If I don't like you, I probably never will. Consquently, I don't have many close friends -- I know, though, that the ones I do have my back through thick or thin.

What are your hobbies? Writing is my medium of choice. I have always just had a natural knack for it. It's difficult to not enjoy something you excel in. I enjoy studying new languages and cultures. I like reading and collaging, as well. Oh, and this tiny little addiction to The Sims 2.

Have or would you give time and money to a charity? I am not the kind of person who gives money to your church because you conned your four-year old, blonde hair/blue-eyed little niece into coming up to my door and asking me, I don't buy colored wristbands for every cause under the sun, and I certainly don't jump on any celebrity bandwagons. I work hard for my money and it takes a lot more than Brad Pitt in a tight t-shirt asking for my donation for me to give it up. Now, if real people, working real hard want my help for a cause I really believe in, I'm all for it. My big two are AIDS research and I am a volunteer for Big Brother's Big Sister's.

What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? I always wanted to change the world. Yes, I realize I said that it's foolish to dream up an idealistic world that will never be. I know I said I respect the world for it's light and dark elements. I respect the world for what it is, but also for what it can be. Just because I am not impractical enough to believe the world can be void of evil, doesn't mean I don't want to encourage the flourishing of the good.

Who is your role model? I'm not really sure that I have one. Role models are to be emulated, and I can't honestly think of anyone worth emulating. I have heros and those who I admire, but no role model.

What trait most annoys you about other people? Ungenuine people are the most irritating to me. I don't care if you have money or if you're dirt poor. I don't care if your care is basically rust on wheels or if you drive a BMW. I don't care if you flip burgers for a living or you make $100,000 year. Just be genuine. Just be real. If you're a bitch, fine, be a bitch. If you're super sweet, be super sweet. I won't necessarily like everything about you, but I'll respect you for being yourself.

What do you want to do for a living? International Studies is my major. Ideally, I want to work for the United Nations. I've always found other cultures and languages fascinating. I just recently finished teaching myself sign language, which obviously isn't a cultural leap, but useful nontheless. When you chose IS as your major, you're expected to pick an area of study. I'm still undecided. I guess I'm bothered by the thought of being limited to just one culture.

If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? I'd jump right in the fray. I'd be a hypocrit if I did anything less. Friends are valuable, they're worth fighting for.

Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? Ooh, that's tough to say. Obviously, I've never been in such a situation. But, considering they're illegal and so is murder, I'd say no. There are people in this world who I'd to see get a taste of their own medicine, but I've never felt compelled to, or even hoped to want do it myself. I don't imagine it would be any different here.

What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
Assertiveness -- This has served as both an enemy and an ally in the past. In most cases, though, it's served me well. I'm not shy about speaking my mind, I'm outgoing, and I always stand up for what I believe in. It was Alexander Hamilton, afterall, who said, "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything."
Honesty -- I just call 'em like I see 'em. People know better than to ask my opinion on anything they don't want to hear the actual truth of. I'm reliable that way.
Intelligence -- I truly believe that knowledge is the most powerful tool any one person can posess. I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that I hope never to lose.
Creativity - I am a naturally creative person. It makes life just a little more interesting, if you ask me.
Manipulative -- I guess the politically correct way to say this is sly or crafty, but I don't really mind the "manipulative" title. I seem to have a certain level of influence on people that's always proved useful.

What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
Stubborn -- Once I've made up my mind, it's very difficult to change it. I'm always open to hearing other perspectives, I'm just not as open to changing mine.
Insensitivity - Because I'm so outspoken and honest with people, I tend to give off the vibe that I'm a callous and insensitive person. I don't necessarily believe this is always the case -- I just think a few more people could use a reality check.
Procrastination - I am notorious for putting things off till the last minute. So notorious, in fact, I've even managed to talk myself into believing I just work better under pressure. This is probably not the case, I've just never allowed myself to work under any other conditions.
Sarcasm</b> -- I'm sharp as an adder at times which actually tends to amuse people. Unless, of course, they're on the recieving end. Some people are just too sensitive. Seriously, if you can't poke fun at your own ignorances, you have no chance of overcoming them.
Impatience - I'm definitely an instant gratification kind of girl. When I want something, I want it now. I don't necessarily think that's a good thing.

Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage: Courage, to me, is not the absence of fear but the strength to stand up to those fears and overcome them.
Loyalty: Loyalty doesn't mean you always have to agree with those you are loyal to. It's standing up for them and respecting their beliefs, even if they're not your own.
Intelligence: The most intelligent people are the people who never end their quest for knowledge. Always strive to learn more.
Ambition: The drive to make it your goals. Even when it means overcoming obstacles. Even when it seems like you'll never get there. Even when if it means sacrafice.

Name: Mia
Age: 20

What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.) I guess I don't see myself as much of a Hufflepuff. They've always seemed more compassionate than I give myself credit for. But, I'm not above the sorting process. Wherever I am, I am.

Where did you find out about us? Random LJ search -- I don't even recall what I was looking for.
