If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? To put it simply, I would want everyone to just get along. I wish that despite everyone's differences, we would be able to tolerate and accept things more. I wish people would stop killing each other needlessly and that this unending hunger for power would just stop. On a much lighter note, I also wish that talentless music artists would no longer be given record deals and such. I mean, what happened to people becoming popular because they were good at something as opposed to people becoming popular because their sister is or because they have big boobs or because they know someone who knows someone who knows someone etc etc.
What makes a person respectable? I think there are many things that make a person respectable. They include things such as being able to be honest with yourself and others, being able to make responsible decisions and being intellectual. Respectable people are tolerant and positive and empathetic. They also do things for the common good rather than for their own personal gain. I think someone who is able to laugh and have a good time also falls into the repectable category.
What do you look for in a friend? Someone who has a great sense of humor. I like someone that I can laugh about the dumbest things with and someone who sees the humor in life, even when it seems like nothing is ever going to be funny again. I like people who can be honest with me and tell me exactly how they feel about things. I want them to tell me if the hair cut I just got looks horrible or if they dont really like the new guy Im hanging around with, stuff like that. Its hard to find people that respect you enough to be completely honest with you but that is what I look for. I befriend people who are compassionate and open-minded. Thats a big one. I cant stand ignorant people. I like someone thats not afraid to try new things and obviously someone who has the same interests as me. Ok, now this sounds like a personal ad. Haha.
What are your hobbies? I started playing the violin last summer and I love it. I also play the piano and I plan to get back into lessons in the fall. I love to read all sorts of books and Im not happy unless Im reading 5 or 6 books at once. Im currently reading all of the HP books again. I also love sports. I was in gymnastics for 10 years and soccer and track & field for 4 years. I like going on really long walks and bike rides. Im also a meteorology nerd and I love to watch the weather channel. Ive been interested in meteorology since I was a little kid and I am hoping to do something with it as far as a career when Im older. My favorite hobby is spending endless amounts of time on LiveJournal. I really need a life =P I also like to knit and crochet and make blankets and scarves. I sew my own clothes, handbags and quilts too. Its always fun to have someone comment on how much they like what you have on or what you are carrying and you can say that you made it.
Have or would you give time and money to a charity? My mom and I buy for the "Toys for Tots" charity every Christmas. I love going and picking out toys and books, etc, that you know a child will just love. I give old clothes and other items away all the time but Im not sure if that really counts as giving time to a charity.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? I would like to travel the world someday when I have more time and money. I want to go all over Europe and Im dying to go to Australia. But thats just one thing. Its my dream to go back to school for meteorology in Oklahoma and be a storm chaser. A real one, not the people who have no clue about weather and just like the rush they get from chasing. It might be hard for me though because Ive never really excelled at math or science. That would definately be a challenge.
Who is your role model? Im going to say my dad for this one. He never went to college, married my mom right out of high school and was still able to create his own successful business and now just started another one. I dont think I would ever have the guts to risk anything like that. Especially with three kids to take care of. Someday I may take over one or both of the businesses.
What trait most annoys you about other people? I have more than one trait that annoys me about others. First and foremost, when people arent honest with you. Nothing bothers me more than when someone tells you something but you hear something different from someone else. Things would be a lot easier if more people would be honest with the peole around them. Also, I hate it when people seem to need drama in their lives to survive. I mean sure, some drama always adds for a little excitement but come on, there are more important things in life. Egotistical jerks bug the heck out of me too.
What do you want to do for a living? I'm 24 years old and I still dont know. I had planned on moving to New York and work in the fashion industry but Im really not sure yet. Right now I work for my dad's telecommunications business and the gourmet chocolate company he just started. I will probably end up staying in the family business unless I decide to persue something in the field of fashion. Someday I would like to move out of Minnesota. =)
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? I would use the Incendio spell, set the damn thing/person on fire. =)I would stay with my friend and do everything I could to get them help.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? I would prefer not to use one but if I was in a situation that involved a friend or myself in mortal danger due to someone else, I probably would. I would rather stay away from the evil stuff.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
Athletic ability - I love sports and exercizing. I have a talent for soccer and gymnastics as well as sprinting, tennis, and swimming. Ive been athletic since I was young and have always had natural talent towards it.
Intellect - I enjoy learning new things and Im a fast learner. I think I have both book smarts and street smarts. I went through 4 years of college and if I had more money, I would probably go back. History, Geography, Criminology and German were my favorite subjects in high school and in college, I loved Psychology, European history and my fashion and accounting classes.
Musical talent - I played the piano for years and just a year ago started playing the violin. I have a pretty good ear for music and I enjoy it very much. I felt pretty cool when my brother told me that his guitar teacher tried playing the violin and just couldnt do it. When Im looking at a piece of sheet music, I can picture how it sounds in my head without even playing it.
Tolerance - I am a very open-minded person and I am able to appreciate the differences in people. Even if there is someone with completely different beliefs than me, I always try to see things from their point of view.
Honesty - Im honest, sometimes brutally. But its for everyones own good. For a simple example, if I think my friend doesnt look good in something, I will tell her. In fact, I dont have to come right out and say anything, she will ask me. I have dealt with so many people who just cant seem to tell the truth and they are people I would rather not be around.
What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
Procrastination - No matter what, I always seem to put things off until the last minute. Even if Im given a large span of time to finish things. I always get stuff done, its just a matter of taking my time with it or rushing to finish it. With me, its always the latter. I think a lot of people have problems with this one =P
Laziness - Along with procrastination, I have some lazy tendencies. I sometimes get these grandiose ideas to do all these different things in one day but then I decide not to cut back on doing a few of them, but to not do any of them at all. Sometimes I would rather spend the day in bed then do anything else. Also, I like to take the easy route out of doing things whenever I can. Be it at work or when I was in school.
Occasional Negativity - Who isnt negative sometimes? I occasionally think the worst of people and situations and Ive been like this for as long as I can remember. When things/people are at their worst, I dont think anything good could ever come of the situation. Im always getting yelled at by my dad for this one.
Anger - Yeah, I have a bit of road rage. Ive gotten a lot better with this one but I tend to fly off the handle with even the smallest things, especially if something doesnt go my way. When I get really angry, it sometimes takes me a while to get over it. I know, life is too short to be mad all the time.
Give up too easily on things - When I dont succeed right away on something, I want to give up on it. This too has been a trait that Ive had for as long as I can remember. I wanted to give up on soccer when I first started playing because I wasnt as good at it as I expected I would be. But my dad wouldnt let me. Im glad he didnt because once I got the hang of it, its all I wanted to do. I also wanted to give up on the piano when I was younger because I couldnt play like Chopin right away. I sometimes think that things look easier to do than they acutally are and then I get discouraged. I am happy to say that I havent given up on the violin even though it was a bit hard at the beginning.
Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage: Courage to me is having little or no fear in the face of danger, even if it means death. It doesnt mean running headlong in to something dangerous stupidly, but using your brains and wit to get through something difficult.
Loyalty: Standing by what and who you believe in, no matter what. Loyalty doesnt just deal with other people either. Being loyal to yourself and sticking to what is important to you is a good character trait.
Intelligence: Book smarts as well as street smarts. I think the most well-rounded people have both. I think intelligence doesnt have to be just book/street smarts either. The most creative, interesting, well spoken people in the world arent necessarily geniuses.
Ambition: Striving hard for something you want and not giving up even when you face setbacks. Ambition is important in life because if you dont set goals for yourself, you will never get anywhere. Whether they are small or large, ambition is what keeps us going.
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.) I dont think there is any house that I would not fit properly in some way or another.
Where did you find out about us? I was looking at a friend's communities and I found this one. I have been looking for a sorting community on LJ for a while.
