If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I would change the evil in people's hearts, so that the world will not have so many tragedies happening.
I feel that life is short enough already, there's no need to make it even worse by killing or doing all sorts of other crimes to make others' lives libing hell.

What makes a person respectable?
His/her heart. By knowing the person's character and behaviour, you can tell if that person is kind or not. The most respectable person is the person who is kind to everyone regardless of your background, looks or what you have done to him/her.

What do you look for in a friend?
That person must be able to keep secrets, be kind, funny, and likes to read books. I tell my friends lots of things, but sometimes for sensitive subjects I have to trust them not to blab. Being kind is a basic requirement because you want to have a friend who is nice to you. The friend must be able to make me laugh because I am too serious at times. From what all my other friends say, I need someone who can always make me laugh and relax. Lastly, I like to read, so my friend must like to read and then we can have lots to talk about. Basically, being loyal.

What are your hobbies?
I like to play badminton, swim, read, listen to music, play captain's ball, play computer games and watch drama serials. I also love to chat with my cousins as often as possible to catch up with them. I think that's considered a hobby.

Have or would you give time and money to a charity?
I have given time and money to charity. I would also give both on my own. The reason is that my school organises trips to old folks' homes and such, and when I see how pitiful they are, I try to do more for them. It seems that the people in Singapore aren't caring enough(we were the 3rd least caring country in Asia in a survey conducted), therefore I like to feel that my efforts can help to brighten a person's life for at least a day.

What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish?
I would like to make my sister happy. She is feeling inferior because people always compare her to me regardless of her feelings. they sometimes even do it to her face. I don't know how to help her overcome her inferiority complex and i can tell she is unhappy because she talks to herself in the shower and flares up all the time. Therefore, what I want to accomplish is making my sister happy and restoring her self-confidence.
Who is your role model?
My father. Although he is very old now, and has retired, he is still studying to become a Chinese physician, and I respect him for that, because he is learning even though he is old. Even though he has met a lot of obstacles suring this period of time, he has never given up and I admire him for his determination and courage to try a new path so late in his life.

What trait most annoys you about other people?
People who suck up to others who are popular or in positions of authority. These people are the most fake ones. When you are "popular", they try means and ways to make you happy. Meanwhile, they spread rumours about you behind your backs. When you are out of favour, they turn their backs on you in a flash. I've seen this sort of thing happening in my school, and all I can say is, those people disgust me.

What do you want to do for a living?
I have no idea as yet, definitely do not want to become an office person working from 9-5.

If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do?
I would rush to his/her's defense, even though I may not have the capability to stop the attack. It's an instinct to want to protect someone whom you care for. Even though you know you can't stop it, you can't help but help your friend in need. I'm always taking care of others anyway(my friends seem to think so, they say I'm like a mother hen...)

Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason?
No. It's too despicable. I would never force my will on someone. The promises that a person makes under coercion are empty, and you can't trust it because they can lie to you and you will not know if their saying the truth. I don't like poeple to force me to do anything, be it to make a decision or to do other things, which is why I will never do it to another person. As the Chinese say: 己所不欲,勿施予人 (sorry if you don't understand this, but I had to add it in because it describes my feelings more accurately. Basically it means that if you don't like a certain thing to happen to you, then don't do it to others. We believe in retribution, and whatever you do will come back to you in a full cycle)

What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
I think that I have a good memory, am loyal to my friends, possess leadership skills, outspoken and I like to read "boring stuff" like documentaries or history etc. Being outspoken is what I am most proud of because I grew up in a society that did not encourage us to question what our elders say, even though it doesn't make sense. I know of people who have a lot to say but don't have the guts to (does thar mean I have courage?)Reading "boring stuff" enhances my own personal knowledge about lots of things. Having a good memory means that I usually remember what my friends talk about, and I am able to surprise them sometimes by giving them gifts they said they needed but forgot later.

What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
I have a bad temper, read too much, do things at the last minute, oversleep and am rude to my elders. I think that reading is good, but I read so much until my mum is always screaming at me to put the book down. Oversleeping is not good because I am sometimes late, and I am very rude to my elders. I know that it's not right but I haven't successfully gotten rid of it yet.

Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage: The ability to stand up and express you opinons even though you know it may not be accepted.

Loyalty: Never betray any one's trust.

Intelligence: Smart, streetwise, witty.

Ambition: The desire to want to do well in everything using your own capabilities.

Name: Sim Yok Teng
Age: 15
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.)
Hufflepuff. From what I know, Hufflepuffs are even-tempered and very nice to people. However, I am a sort of loner and i display my dislike for someone very obviously. I also have a bad temper. People who have voted for me so far have told me that this is not true of the Hufflepuffs, but I still feel that I do not belong there.
