the sorting

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? I would have to say ignorance. It really bothers me how some people can judge others based by colour, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. I find that ignorant people are so afraid of what's different that they just assume it's wrong. I get offended when I hear comments like, 'That's gay' or 'That's Jewish'. What does that mean, anyway? Phrases like that put being gay or a certain religion in a negative light. I find I'm personally affected because I have gay, Jewish, black, Muslim, and Buddhist friends and family.
What makes a person respectable? A respectable person is someone who judges character and not looks, is polite, intelligent [street or book smarts], funny. Someone who is not perfect but knows it. They will see the positive side of people before the see the negative things.
What do you look for in a friend? I look for someone who just makes me feel good about myself. They don't have to be similar to me; as long as they make me laugh and be happy with who I am, I know that they're the person I want as a friend. I find that friends are such a major source of support in life and that I would be no where without the wonderful friends that I've made through the years.
What are your hobbies? I enjoy reading, writing, dancing, singing, and acting. I also like going to the movies and talking with my friends online or in person. Shopping is another one of my hobbies.
Have or would you give time and money to a charity? I've worked with the free meal program at my church for many years. On certain Sundays I work in the kitchen at my church to prepare and serve a free meal to anyone who wants one. During the summer of 2002 I went to Northern Ireland and worked in the Shankhill [a place in need of some help] to clean up and meet the people. We had free concerts all three nights, and the children were just wonderful. If I had the money, I would donate to a program to fund HIV/AIDS research because my uncle has HIV.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish? Me, I want to be a writer. I want to publish a best-selling novel before I die. I'm also going to teach high school English, and I would like to know that I've made a difference in my students' lives. Not many are as fortunate as I to have tons of support and love from family and teachers, so I'd like to be able to offer that.
Who is your role model? Audrey Hepburn, because she was just so amazing. Not only did she have that vintage elegance and beautiful grace, she donated a lot of her time to work with UNICEF and help children in third-world countries. Audrey was also an amazing actress and entertainer.
What trait most annoys you about other people? I know it's kind of petty, but I can't stand the way some people laugh. I know my laugh isn't anything to be proud of [it's annoying to me, anyway], but some are just so obnoxious and over-the-top. It's like they're faking or something.
What do you want to do for a living? As I mentioned before, I want to teach and write. I'm getting a double major in English and history, so I hope to teach at a high school level.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? It really depends on the situation. My first instinct would be to try and save them myself, but if it was something that would end up killing us both I would try and find help if it was available. If, say, we were in the Forbidden Forest, I would save them myself.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason? Hmm, tough one. I guess if I were in Harry's position, I would be very tempted to use them against enemies and such, but I don't know if I would ever be able to. You have to be able to really mean it for it to work, and, even though I hate Death Eaters, it's just not in my nature to use an Unforgivable Curse. I'd probably start throwing jinxes at them.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities? I'm a good writer, I listen well, I am very cooperative, I appreciate those who help me, and I am very, very determined.
What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities? Sometimes I can be very shallow, I can be very mean, I don't think before I speak, I have a tendency to embarrass myself easily, and I'm sarcastic.
Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage: Courage to me isn't only what Harry has when he faces Voldemort. I think Dumbledore said it best: courage is being able to stand up to your friends and do what you believe is right. Courage is to face the odds and keep going, even if you think that evil might win. You fight until the end.
Loyalty: Anyone who has true friends are loyal, even though it may not seem like it. If you keep a secret for someone, you're being loyal to them. Loyalty is keeping your word.
Intelligence: Everyone has some sort of intelligence. You can get excellent school marks and be intelligent, or you can get below average marks but still have your wits about you in situations. It's keeping cool and knowing when you should take action or just sit back and do nothing.
Ambition: Anyone who has ever had a goal has ambition. Being determined and fighting for what you believe in is ambition to me.

Name: Samantha
Age: 18
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.) I could belong in any house.. I think though I couldn't deal with Hufflepuff. It just sounds kind of like a push-over house, you know?
