If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I think one thing I would change about the world is the censorship and imprisonment countries force on freedom fighters. Over the past couple of years in high school, I was involved in International Club; we focused on writing letters to other country officials and bringing the mistreatment of these freedom fighters to their attention. I really feel that the freedom of speech we have in the United States should be given to all citizens of the world. I’m a big advocate for fighting for what is right, even if others don’t agree with it. I hope one day other countries will realize that more freedom is not a dangerous thing to give people; it is more likely to gain the leader trust and acceptance from their citizens.
What makes a person respectable?
I think a person is respectable when they stay true to their word and true to themselves. I simply can’t understand when people constantly promise something and back down or do something that simply doesn’t match their morals and values. I believe everyone should stay true to themselves and not be someone they’re not just to be accepted. I’m a big fan of being unique rather than going with what’s popular. I really respect a person when they follow their heart and ideas rather than giving into others’ beliefs.
What do you look for in a friend?
When I first tried to answer this question, I realized I should just put all my friends’ qualities together! I would want my friend to be completely trustworthy and loyal to me, but also very honest. If I were doing something wrong or just plain stupid, I would want them to tell me straight out and not feel uncomfortable. I would want them to feel as if they could talk to me about anything because that’s what friends are for – friends must listen to each other and give each other advice in order to truly understand and know each other. And of course, I would my friends to be able to have silly amounts of fun. When I get silly, I get really silly and I would want my friends to be just like that. 
What are your hobbies?
I have quite a few hobbies; as a list it’s: art, music, reading, classic films, and Star Wars. I’ve been drawing ever since kindergarten and it’s taken me about thirteen years to realize I really want a career in art. (I paint, draw, do graphic art, photography, and sculpt [although it’s my least favorite form of art]). I love music and I’ve been playing violin for nine years and guitar for a little over two. During that time I’ve also played viola, cello, and string bass for different school concerts. Music is a huge part of my life and even though I won’t be able to play in my college symphony, I’m going to try and join a community orchestra. Now that high school is over, I’ve gotten back into reading what I want to read and I’ve been catching up on all the modern classics. I love getting lost in stories and characters and an author’s imagination. I also love watching classic films. When today’s movie theatres are filled with “romantic-comedies” with the same plot, I love to watch films that made history because of their plot, direction, or technology. I think the classic movies have great stories and leave the audience with a great moral or lesson whereas today’s movies are just ninety minutes of “hot” actors and actresses pretending to be careless teens. The Star Wars saga is one of my favorite movies/stories ever. It is the classic heroic story with underlying morals that allows the audience to escape into another galaxy and still find a character that can relate to. Sorry this response was so long, but all these hobbies are really important to me and describe my personality, so I wanted to elaborate more. 
Have or would you give time and money to a charity?
I have given time and money to charities in the past, such as Relay for Life and the Special Olympics; I hope I can do more of these charities in the future. I know when I have a “real” job I will make donations to different charities, especially ones dealing with saving art and music programs in schools as well as suicide prevention charities because I have been directly affected by suicides in the past. I think donating one’s time and money to a charity is fulfilling not only for those who receive the aide, but for those who want to contribute as well.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish?
This answer will be similar to “what do you want to do for a living”. All my life I have loved art and thought it would be incredible if I could do it day to day as my career. That way, it wouldn’t really seem like a job; I would get paid for doing what I love! However, over the past few years, I’ve become really interested in politics and solving city-wide problems/issues and right now, if I had the money and time, I would go to law school. But since this isn’t a perfect world, I would simply want to be able to have a career in art where I could incorporate political issues – thus my goal of creating graphics/design for broadcasting or campaigns. I’m the type of person who has so many different areas of interest that I simply couldn’t go on in life and just drop one of my passions. I would really like to have a connection to both art and politics throughout my entire life, and although it might seem difficult, I’m the type of person who would try and make it work.
Who is your role model?
This is actually the last question I answered in the entire application. I don’t really have a role model, but if I had to choose one person I really admire, it would be Oprah. I know that sounds cheesy, but I think she’s a great person who has endless amounts of compassion and strength. Not only has she shown women can be very strong and independent, but she also got America interested in reading! I think it’s a great idea that people all over the country read the same novels at the same time and bring literature back into their lives.
What trait most annoys you about other people?
I cannot stand it when people think they have more drama in their lives than everyone else and then tell everyone about (sometimes as a way of getting attention). Basically, I can’t stand dramatic people. I have problems like any other teenager today, but I don’t burden people with my issues, and if I must, it’s only to my best friends who I know will listen to me and help me sort out my problems. I just don’t understand why some people tell their “issues” to people they hardly know and simply want pity out of the conversation.
What do you want to do for a living?
As it came time for me to decide on my major in college, I knew I wanted to do something with art, but I’ve also wanted to work in politics for a long time as well. So as a really specific career idea, I’d like to work as a graphic artist for news broadcasting or another type of news production. I’ve been told I’d make a great campaign manager, so that sounds like a good idea to me too! After I find a steady career, I’d really like to go to law school and work more with politics. That way, I can still live both my dreams of being an artist and having a career in politics.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do?
I would do whatever I could to save my friend in that situation. I would try my best to not kill the person/creature, but if it came to that point and it was a life or death situation, I believe I would kill the person/creature to save my friend. I’m guessing my friends would do the same for me so my opinion is to follow the Golden Rule. After I knew my friend was out of harm’s way, I’d try and find someone with more expertise to deal with the person or creature that attacked them.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason?
I would only use it if it were absolutely necessary, such as in a life or death situation. I’m not the type of person who actually acts out of spite or pent-up anger; I tend to keep it inside instead of releasing it through hurtful actions. Therefore, if myself or someone I cared about was in danger of being severely injured or even killed, I guess I would use the Unforgivable Curse.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
1. Hard-working: No matter what it is I’m working on, I never stop until I finish what I began. I always put in a lot of effort to gain the result I (or someone else) hoped for. I’m a very persistent and determined person who likes to accomplish whatever they set out to do; I am definitely not a “slacker”.
2. Loyal: I always stand by my friends and try to give them advice whenever they need me or at least be a good listener. I will stand by my friends in good times and bad and I’m there for them whenever they need me.
3. Realistic: Although it’s hard for me to be realistic when I have my own problems, I always try and help friends see situations they way they really are and stop them from over-analyzing or hoping for impossible results.
4. Reliable: Many people would call me a responsible person, but it’s only because I do what I say I’m going to do – even if it takes me a long time. Sometimes I find myself being the “go-to” girl because if you ask me to do something for a project or whatnot, I will follow through with it.
5. Well-rounded: One of my teachers has labeled me as a “renaissance woman” and I thought it was pretty funny, but I guess it’s true at the same time. I love art, music, history, literature, philosophy, film, and basically, I just love to learn. I love to gain more knowledge and involve myself in a lot of different areas of learning.
What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
1. Moody: I can go from very happy and hyper to very upset or annoyed within minutes. Thankfully, this doesn’t happen too often anymore, but I think it’s because I’m on summer break haha.
2. Easily jealous: I can become very possessive of friends or materials but I never really act on it; I tend to hold my jealous feelings inside or tell them to a few friends if any.
3. Easily agitated: I think this goes along with moody…but I’m easily annoyed by loud noises or interruptions, or anything little that shouldn’t really agitate anyone.
4. Stubborn: Even though I considered myself open-minded, once I decide I’m going to do something, I stick to my plan and tend not to be open to others’ ideas. I’m very big on routines and planning out my day, so when I have something already set in my mind, it tends to stay that way and I can’t easily be swayed.
5. Worrisome: I worry a lot about things I won’t be able to change. Thankfully, my friends or family will point it out to me and make me realize that sometimes I have to take life as it comes – I can’t worry about things that will happen regardless of my actions.
Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage:
I believe courage is standing up to what you fear and/or the unknown. To me, courage is a very rare trait that occurs in times when a person truly believes in themselves and actually surpass their own expectations. I believe courage is a trait you must find within yourself when you truly believe you can overcome an obstacle.
Loyalty:
Loyalty is supporting and encouraging someone you care about, even when things get rough. I also think loyalty applies to an individual and staying true to their values or beliefs. Either way, loyalty means never shying away from someone or something you care about, even if others do not agree.
Intelligence:
I think intelligence is a combination of book smarts, street smarts, and the desire to learn more. When you call someone intelligent, it’s more than being just smart. Intelligence also deals with issues occurring in society and a certain curiosity to discover answers on a deeper level; for example, an intelligent person wouldn’t just discover an idea or answer and leave it at that, they would want to why and how it is that way.
Ambition:
Ambition can be both good and bad depending on the desired outcomes. For example, I consider myself to be ambitious because I constantly set goals for myself and achieve them, but they’re always to make myself a better person or get me closer to my ideal studies/careers. However, ambition can be very harmful as well. If the desired outcome may end up hurting someone, the person has abused their ambition. As a general idea, I think ambition is a strong amount of determination used to achieve a certain goal.

What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.)
I don’t think there’s a house that just doesn’t fit me; I think I have different characteristics from each house. However, I don’t see myself fitting into the Gryffindor house because I don’t see myself as very brave or outgoing.
Where did you find out about us?
I found out about this community from a friend who was recently sorted into Hufflepuff. (angelkutty)

p.s. sorry if this application is so long, but I tend to elaborate anything I write!
