If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I would change the disparity between the rich and the poor. Especially in America, wher I live, there are plenty of people who are so obscenely rich that they have more money than they know what to do with. it upsets me to see people spending thousands upon thousands on silly luxury items when there are plenty who cannot even afford the food, clothing, and shelter that they need to survive. I agree that people who work hard should reap the benefits, but I also think that people should find it in their hearts to help their fellow man. I know that if I had money to burn I would much rather donate it to a worthy cause or charity than indulge in a large mansion or gas guzzling vehicle.
What makes a person respectable?
Respect is something that needs to be earned. To earn my respect, a person must be worthy. I truly respect people who work hard to achieve their goals, as well as those who are honest and trustworthy. I suppose it would be simpler to explain what I do not find respectable. I could never respect someone who cheated or used dishonest methods to get their way to the top. I have no respect for those who lie, especially to their friends and family. I do not respect those who abandon their loved ones in exchange for fame or fortune. I do not respect people who are overly vain. All in all, to gain my respect, a person should simply be themselves and work hard.
What do you look for in a friend?
I look for a lot of things in my friends, but most important to me is trustworthiness, for if I cannot trust my friends, then I am alone in the world. This of course goes hand in hand with honesty and integrity. I also need my friends to have a certain level of intelligence. This may seems petty, but it is not as though I am saying that I do not like people who are of low IQ, I simply wouldn’t choose them as my closest company. I need to be able to have intelligent discussions about politics, art, science, and the world. Humor is also very important to me. I need to be able to laugh. I hate it when people are too stuffy or snooty, so I like people who are more laid back and casual in their lifestyles.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy theatre, writing, reading, and music. I love every aspect of theatre. Acting is a great passion of mine. My favorite show that I have been in is the semi obscure musical The Boyfriend. The show is very silly and has little serious plot, but that was what made it so much fun. I also love the technical aspect of theatre. I enjoy set construction, and can put together a stage wall just as fast as the best of them. I also like sound, lighting, and props. But one of my favorite jobs in theatre is assistant directing, which gives you an inside look into every single job involved in creating a theatrical production. In regards to writing, I often indulge in poetry when I get in the mood. When inspiration strikes, I venture into story writing, but I tend to stay with unstructured prose. I love reading anything and everything. I tend not to like short stories because I feel as though there isn’t enough room for character development, and if there is, it bothers me that I have to let go of those characters so soon. So instead I read novels, and I especially like continuing series. I am very eclectic in my musical tastes. I listen to mostly indie bands, but also enjoy pop, rock, and Broadway.
Have or would you give time and money to a charity?
I always have and always will. I am especially attached to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as I lost someone very close to me to a blood cancer. Any time I am aware of any of their fundraisers I take part. I have done walks and dance-a-thons. I have also donated my time and money to personally help the charity. I have also worked with Habitat for Humanity and similar groups to help build homes and shelters as well as reconstructing soup kitchens. In the past I have also volunteered at local hospitals. To me, charity work is very important and fulfilling. I can’t see why anyone would not want to donate their time or money towards helping those in need.
What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish?
My biggest dream is to be an influential member in international politics and law. The global community is falling apart and the world is in peril. Something needs to be done and I want to be the person to do it.
Who is your role model?
I of course look up to my mother, and to Kofi Anan, as he currently holds the highest position at the United Nations, the organization that is trying to help the world, but I see any intelligent, trustworthy, hardworking person as a role model. I define a role model as someone who I would like to be like, and those are the qualities that I hope people will see in me. In terms of historically renowned people, I look up to peace keepers like Gandhi, Mandela, and King.
What trait most annoys you about other people?
I absolutely hate people who are untrustworthy. People need to be honest. I hate it when people talk about others behind their backs. I hate it when people lie. I hate it when people pretend to be something that they are not. The worst thing in the world is when people change who they are just to impress others. We all have to be true to ourselves.
What do you want to do for a living?
I would like to be a lawyer and be involved with global politics. Every country has its own problems, but I think that if they were to all band together, we could all help each other out, and the world truly could be a better place.
If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do? I would do everything in my power to save them. I would try everything that I know to get them out of whatever sort of trouble they were in. If it were a family member, or one of my closest friends, I would even risk my life because I know in my heart that they would do the same for me. I don’t think that I would be able to live with myself if I didn’t.
Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason?
No. Definitely not. I truly believe that these curses are not necessary. It is only people with bad intentions that think that they are useful, or that they need them. I am a good person at heart and could never hurt another person like that.
What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?
In no particular order…I think I am compassionate. If I love something, I put my heart and soul into it. When I care, I truly care. I am also very trustworthy. If someone were to tell me a secret, I would take it with me to the grave. I am also honest. I do not lie, cheat, or steal. I am humorous and find fun in every situation. Last but not least, I am a very creative person.
What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?
I would say that I am too trusting of other people. I believe that everyone is good at heart, and when they aren’t, sometimes I get hurt. I always procrastinate. I put off work, cleaning, cooking, and getting ready until the absolute last second. I am very loud, so sometimes I unknowingly say things in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am impatient when it comes to people taking too long to understand things. I get frustrated when people cannot understand directions, or when they have trouble reading music, or get lost when they have clear directions. I am also overindulgent when it comes to food and entertainment.
Define in your own words the following key traits:
Courage: Courage is having the power to be yourself. When someone stands up to society and says, “This is who I am. Take it or leave it.” They are truly courageous.
Loyalty: Loyalty is being the perfect friend. It includes never divulging secrets, giving up time and energy to help when they are needed, and just being an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.
Intelligence: Intelligence is not necessarily measured by IQ, it is how one puts that to use. To me, intelligence includes not only the ability to understand, but more importantly to comprehend, and to put knowledge to use. If you know something, it is useless unless you can do something with it.
Ambition: Ambition is not only to have a goal, but to seriously strive toward achieving it. Whether it be through research, or going to school, or just beginning a project, ambition is finding the power within yourself to see those impossible dreams to fruition.
What house do you think DOESN'T fit you? (This question is optional for those who feel they just DO NOT fit in a house. Please explain WHY.) I don’t think that I would fit in well in Slytherin. I do think that I could have fun in the house for a day or two, but I think that I would become easily frustrated, and even angry. I don’t like petty teasing and ridicule, and that seems to be a basis of Slytherin life. It would be completely artificial if I had to make fun of people on a daily basis, and there would be a little voice on my shoulder telling me that what I was doing was wrong and bad.
