Sort Me: I dare you, I'm a challenge!

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

I’d change the way people refuse to accept other people for who they are. Honestly, people are so biased against people just for one simple thing about them. Be it because they’re black, white, gay, bisexual, heterosexual, poor, rich or anything else stereotypical. The things I’ve listed are things people do not choose to be, they just are. I hate that people dislike or don’t accept someone for their race or sexual preference. Another thing, everyone has the right to believe what they want. People should accept this, as what one believes is a personal choice. Honest to Merlin do I ABHOR bible-thumpers. Bible-thumpers don’t accept that people have a right to their own beliefs and refuse to accept the fact that people believe what they want. I wish people would just stop thinking everything they believe is right, and every other belief is wrong.

What makes a person respectable?

Hm. A respectable person is someone who follows the rules of society. Someone who is respectable is someone who does not steal, lie, cheat, or anything of that sort. Essentially, there are not many respectable people. To be more vague, a respectable person is someone who’s in general kind and respectful to others. You can’t be respectable if you don’t respect.

What do you look for in a friend?

First, I look for someone who can speak correctly. If someone cannot use correct grammar and doesn’t agree with me when I correct them, I just go crazy. I could stand a person like this, but I seriously doubt they’d ever become my best friend. I am, by nature, a grammar Nazi. I reckon it’s a writer thing. Second, I look for someone I can have fun with. Someone I can talk to, and enjoy spending time with. Boring people = bad. If you’re boring, I suggest you become more interesting or you’ll die in life. I like weird people. Quirky is good, and intelligence is lovable. I might also like someone who also is a manic swimmer on the swim team like myself. I enjoy athletics, and swim-buddies are wicked cool. In a swim-buddy I’d like someone who’s about my speed and challenges me.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are extensive. I don’t really consider my writing a hobby, but some might. I write all the time, essentially it’s what I do, and I plan on becoming a novelist in my spare time. I like to draw cartoons, but I’m not very good at it. I love music, and I tend to collect CDs and upload them onto my iPod (Who’s name is Clara, by the way). I take voice and guitar lessons, despite the fact that I’m an awful singer and guitar player; I like to take these lessons because I enjoy singing and playing guitar, not because I want to be famous or something. I enjoy acting, and take a ton of acting classes. I’ve been in a few plays, and I enjoy doing that as well. I like to rollerblade, run and bike. I find enjoyment in coding webpages and doing graphic design on my computer. I like to create icons and draw pixel people. Being somewhat girly, I do enjoy shopping. However, my ideal shopping does not involve clothing. I like to shop for books and video games. Which brings me to another hobby: video games. I only like to play the ones I can beat. Whenever my brother comes up from college we’ll play each other in video games. That, brings me to another hobby: reading. I read voraciously. I absolutely love romances, science fiction, historical fiction, mysteries, and fantasy. The last hobby I can manage to think up is Role Playing. I run a role play group on Greatest Journal with my friend Kamila. And I apologize for my hobbies answer for being random, choppy, and disorganized.

Have or would you give time and money to a charity?

Yes, I would give money to charity. However, if I were to do so I would need money to spare. This is a luxury I do not currently have. I volunteer a lot, so I know charities need quite a bit of money to survive. Which brings me to my volunteering. I ring bells for the Salvation Army, volunteer in the children’s section of my local library, and am part of a Red Cross teen volunteer group.

What is the one thing you would most like to accomplish?

Publish a well-know novel. I’ve been writing stories since I could (circa age 7), and this has been one of my life-long goals. I know I can do it, and I’m sort of building up to writing a novel.

Who is your role model?

I don’t really have a role model. But, I suppose I have to pick one. Eh, right then. I suppose it would have to be my Mum. She’s a grammar Nazi herself, and she has her bachelor’s degree in journalism. She’s sweet, nice, quirky, and not perfect. She’s easy to talk to, and I love her for it. There, I’m sorry I just can’t write much here, it’s to mushy.

What trait most annoys you about other people?

Goodness, like I said before I HATE it when people abuse the English language. Grammar, wrong spellings, or generally just saying stupid things all annoy me. If you can’t talk properly, don’t talk at all, in my opinion. The English language is a beautiful thing and people need to stop murdering it to death with awful slang, bad grammar, and spelling errors.

What do you want to do for a living?

Mhm. At the moment, I wish nothing more to be an English professor who writes novels on the side. I am big on writing, you see. (As if you hadn’t already noticed). However, it might be different tomorrow. I could want to be a Lawyer, an Artist, a Journalist, an Actress, a rights activist, or a number of different things. I’m rather indecisive.

If your friend was attacked (by a person, animal, or (in the magic world) beast), what would you do?

If one of my good friends would be attacked I would try and figure out how bad their injuries were (assuming the thing has already left). Then, I might go after the thing. Should the thing just come up and start attacking my friend while I am there I would make use of myself and my wand and try and drive it away, no question.

Would you ever use an Unforgivable Curse for any reason?

The only circumstance I would use an Unforgivable Curse is if it was to save something or someone innocent. Unforgivable Curses should be banned except to be used to rid the Wizarding World of the bad. Like Harry, who’s destiny is to destroy Voldemort. He’s going to have to use an Unforgivable, right?

What do you think are your top five abilities or qualities?

In no particular order: Individuality, Writing, Creativity, Intelligence, Friendliness. Now, I shall explain. I see myself as a very individualistic person, I have quirks that no one seems to have, and in those ways I just don’t fit into the ‘norm’. I’m weird, as my friends tell me, and I like it. My writing: I have been told many times that I am an excellent writer, and that is what I really enjoy doing. My Creativity: I like to think of myself as a creative person. Ideas tend to pop into my head every moment of the day, and I can’t stop them. So, I usually just carry around a pen and write them down on my hand as soon as they come to me. My Intelligence: I’m said to be pretty smart for my age. I have the ability to learn things after only being told them once. I myself didn’t believe I was “gifted” as my teachers have labeled me, until I got a 22 on the ACT in the 7th grade. But, essentially, I value my intelligence because it makes school easy for me, and it’s like a “get out of jail free” card for a lot of things in life. I’m not trying to brag here, I’m just trying to be honest. Friendliness: Honest, I can talk to anyone, and I do. When I take classes I end up making friends with everyone. It’s always been like that. The friends don’t always last, but they’re certainly there for awhile. When I was five and my parents took me to those Burger King play sets I’d always leave with a new friend.

What do you think are your top five weaknesses or worst qualities?

Okay, I’m really pretty bossy. I don’t mean to, but especially on group projects I feel the need to take control and direction. This, is mostly because I’m obsessed with my grades. If someone in my group might jeopardize my grade, I’m likely to assign them a less important piece of the project. I used to be bossy outside of group projects, but I’m not really so bad anymore. Tying into this, I’m somewhat of a perfectionist. I have to get things done, and get them done right. I may slack off, and turn in lazy work, but that’s usually because I’ve just given up for awhile. I’m a perfectionist about my writing, in most respects, and I’m a perfectionist about how I swim. I have good stroke technique according to my coach, I’m just not that strong yet. I have this horrid tendency to not think before I speak. This results in a lot of stupid things coming out of my mouth. I don’t think before I act, either. If there’s a big decision I’m eager and want to make the decision right away, and usually it’s everyone else that forces me into thinking about it. When forced to think about it, I become indecisive. Which is another one of my worst qualities, I can’t make a proper decision if I don’t make it right away, even then I’ll take it back a couple times. Lastly, I can be pretty darn lazy. I like to sit around on the computer. The only thing I’m always motivated enough to do is go to swim practice, and I have no idea why. I’m motivated to do schoolwork through about January, then I just get lazy. So, to recap: I’m lazy, bossy, a perfectionist, indecisive, and I don’t think before I act/speak.

Define in your own words the following key traits:

Courage: Courage means risking yourself to do something for the sake of a cause or person. To have courage means to be brave enough to risk yourself emotionally, as well. For example a girl who asks out a boy has courage. She’s risking herself emotionally. She might be rejected, but she’s willing to risk it.

Loyalty: Loyalty means not telling your friends or family’s secrets, not backstabbing someone. Loyalty means to be faithful.

Intelligence: Intelligence is not how much you know, but instead intelligence is the ability to understand. For example: a stupid person can know every single thing about all the stars, but they do not understand how everything fits together and how it works. An intelligent person may not have memorized all the constellations, but knows how they appear in the sky, how the rotation of the Earth affects where the appear. An intelligent person wants to learn, and wants to keep learning.

Ambition: Ambition is having big goals. Ambition is daring to dream big. An ambitious person does not just want to be the Mayor of a city, he wants to be the congressman of the state. An ambitious person doesn’t want to write a novel, they want to write a famous novel.
